We Rescue Them…You Save Them!

ARF gives animals with little hope a second chance at happiness. As you read these stories remember that we could not do what we do without the help and financial support of animal lovers like you! Visit http://www.arf-il.org/to see how you can help!

Get Well Soon, Your Life Depends on It

It was mid December, 2011. A time of year families look forward to celebrating with family and friends. A time dogs and cats in kill-shelters dread most of all. You see, most animal control facilities and kill shelters don’t have the staff or resources to medicate and keep rescues over the holidays, so otherwise sweet, young, adoptable animals are euthanized for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Without ARF cats like Collin, Amber, Connie, Vegas, Felicia, and Roberta wouldn’t have made it to Christmas. Why? They all had the sniffles. ARF fosters stepped in and after a few weeks of medicine and TLC, all found loving forever homes.

  • ARF takes in and cares for homeless dogs and cats other rescue groups can’t because of special medical needs.

Every Dog Deserves A Better Day

Can you imagine how anyone could force a dog to live his or her whole life in a small wire cage without companionship, toys or comfort, and little hope of ever becoming part of a family? That is what life is like for a puppy mill breeding dog, and it needs to stop. Through active rescue, education, and community outreach ARF volunteers are giving these poor pups a second chance at living normal, happy lives as part of a loving family where they are valued not exploited.

  • ARF works hard in partnership with other local and national rescue groups to stop the cycle of cruelty that contributes to pet overpopulation and the suffering of countless dogs.
No Moms Left Behind!

Puppies and kittens tend to stay in foster care for less than a few weeks, so many groups do a great job of rescuing and re-homing these adorable little fluff balls, which is great! But what about the moms? Many of these moms are only about a year or so old, plenty playful, and absolutely healthy, but they often get overlooked when there is an abundance of puppies and kittens around. ARF makes sure they get their chance at happiness, too!

  • ARF is dedicated to saving and finding homes for all adoptable dogs and cats, which means we never leave a momma dog or cat behind at a shelter.
